Students in Pre-K through second grade at Westmoreland Primary School enjoyed an exciting and educational Fire Safety Day, learning important lessons about fire prevention and safety from our local Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department!
Throughout the day, our youngest Bulldogs had the opportunity to learn valuable fire safety tips and discuss the importance of being prepared in an emergency. Firefighters talked with students about the importance of having working smoke detectors in their homes, how smoke detectors help alert families to danger, and what to do if a fire occurs.
Students also learned about the importance of having a family escape plan in case of a fire, including knowing how to get out of their homes safely and being prepared to respond quickly. These important conversations helped reinforce safety lessons that students can share with their families at home.
Of course, the day included plenty of hands-on excitement! Students got an up-close look at the fire trucks, explored the equipment firefighters use to protect our community, and learned more about the important work these local heroes do every day. Each student even received their very own firefighter hat and a goodie bag to take home, making the experience extra special!
Fire Safety Day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to learn essential life-saving information in a fun, engaging, and memorable way. By introducing these lessons at an early age, we hope to help our students understand the importance of fire safety and feel more confident knowing how to respond in an emergency.
A HUGE thank-you to the Westmoreland Volunteer Fire Department for taking the time to visit Westmoreland Primary School, share their knowledge, answer questions, and make fire safety education such a positive experience for our students. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity, dedication, and continued commitment to keeping our students, families, and community safe!
Thank you for being wonderful community partners and helping our youngest Bulldogs learn how to stay safe!
