Students at Westmoreland Primary School recently had an exciting opportunity to explore the wonders of space when a unique NASA-themed adventure bus made a special visit to campus!
The bus provided students with an interactive, hands-on learning experience that allowed them to explore both the inside and outside of the specially designed vehicle. From discovering the planets to learning about the technology used in space exploration, students were immersed in an educational adventure that brought science and space travel to life.
Inside the bus, students stepped into a planetarium-like experience where they could view different planets and learn more about our solar system. The immersive display gave students an opportunity to explore space in a whole new way, sparking curiosity about the planets, stars, and the vast universe beyond Earth.
The learning continued outside the bus, where students were introduced to older technology, equipment, and radios used in connection with space exploration and communication. Students had the opportunity to interact with the equipment, try out some of the technology, and discover how communication systems have played an important role in space travel. These hands-on activities helped students better understand how technology has evolved and how astronauts and scientists communicate and gather information during space missions.
Adding an extra special connection to the visit, the adventure bus is owned by Westmoreland alumni Laura Wessing and Alex Lallier! It was wonderful to welcome former Bulldogs back to campus as they shared their passion for exploration, technology, and learning with our youngest students.
Experiences like this provide students with opportunities to explore new interests, ask questions, and make connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them. By combining interactive displays, hands-on technology, and an exciting space-themed adventure, students were able to experience science in a memorable and engaging way.
A special thank you to Laura Wessing and Alex Lallier for bringing this unique experience to Westmoreland Primary School and giving our students an opportunity to reach for the stars!
