Westmoreland High School students experienced what it was like to create a successful business plan at the Junior Achievement Entrepreneurial Summit.
On Friday, 20 high school students were invited to Giotto Enterprises in Oriskany to compete in a “Shark Tank” challenge. They learned how to build a business, the importance of collaboration, market and need analysis, design thinking, research, and developing business models.
Throughout the day, students worked in small groups brainstorming ideas to ultimately pitch their business concepts. Judges from local colleges and BOCES critiqued their models. Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon and members of the Oneida County Sheriffs were also there to give the students advice.
First place winners each received $50.00 and an iPad. Second place, took home $25.00 per person and a book on success. Congratulations to all of our students who participated!
