WESTMORELAND, N.Y.- For the second year in a row, the Westmoreland Central School District held a tree lighting for the community, but this year’s event had more meaning.
Our district decided to donate all proceeds from this event to the Michelle M. Adey Foundation. During this school year, Westmoreland Central School District committed to raising money for a local organization every two months through our Adopt-A-Charity Initiative. Throughout the two months, students and staff learn about the importance of that organization. For the months of November and December, we are supporting the Michelle M. Adey Foundation.
On Monday night, the community gathered at the Primary Elementary School for some hot chocolate, basket raffles and Christmas shopping. Later on, everyone watched the tree in front of the school light up in the most beautiful colors. Then Santa and Mrs. Claus made a grand entrance on a Westmoreland Fire Department Fire Truck. Students and their families took pictures with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.
The community came together and raised more than $1,600.00 for a good cause. Thank you to everyone who came out to show their support!
