Hello Primary Elementary Families,
Thank you for joining us in August to welcome our Kindergarten students to school! I wanted to provide some additional information on parent drop-off and pick up. If you were unable to attend, I will reiterate that information below, as well as information regarding arrival and dismissal times for bus students and parent pick up.
Arrival Information
We open our school doors at 8:40 AM. Children who are being dropped off will be let into the building beginning at 8:40 AM. If you are dropping off your child, you can park in the parking spaces in the parent parking lot and walk your child up to the main entrance. Parents do not need to park in front of a cone from arrival time. We will have a number of staff members at the front entrance to greet you and your child and help them get to their home base room. If you are dropping off your child later than 9:00 AM, they are considered late to school, and you will need to enter the school building vestibule to sign them in with our secretary, Mrs. Borowiec at the window.
In addition, many kindergarten parents like to watch their children get off the bus at school on the first day. This is not a problem at all. We just ask that you park in the main parking lot, and line up around the sidewalk of the bus circle. Buses arrive beginning at 8:40 and arrive on a staggered basis until around 9:00 AM
We kindly ask that parents do not enter the school building on the first day. This poses a safety issue and unfortunately makes the transition for your child more challenging.
Dismissal Information
Our dismissal routine begins at approximately 3:15 PM. We begin dismissal with our bus students. All of the buses will line up in the main circle and teachers will escort children to buses. For the first several weeks, this process takes a bit of time, as we like to verify and double check that children are on the correct bus. Once the buses are loaded they will exit the circle.
The PINK group (Kinder and multiage) are in the parent lot. You may pull into your cone space whenever you arrive and your child's teacher will physically walk the child to your car. You may remain in your vehicle.
After the buses exit, the GREEN group parents may enter the lot. Please have your parking pass in your dashboard and pull in front of the correct cone number. When pulling into the bus circle, leave ample space between your vehicle and the curb, so that you can pull your car out of the lot without putting it in reverse. For the safety of our students, we do not allow parents to put their cars in reverse in the bus circle.
Our staff will bring your child out to their proper cone and verify your identity before dismissal. Parents should remain in their cars. Once the children are loaded, the front car (cone #1) will exit the circle, followed by 2,3,4...etc. You must wait for the car in front of you to exit the circle. Please do not enter the circle while buses are in it.
After the green group leaves, the 3:25 yellow group can enter the circle in the same fashion. We will have staff to direct you.
*Please note for the first several weeks of the school year, we will be running behind schedule. Buses will be late for return home, and the 3:20/3:25 pick up times will be delayed. We ask for your patience as well all learn the routine of this system. It is a very efficient and safe dismissal process, but it does take everyone a bit to get used to it. We will get very close to those specific times in the weeks ahead. However, please know that for both bus and parent pick-ups the estimated times are estimates, especially for the first few weeks.
I understand this is quite a bit of information, but please review it, and let us know if you have any questions. Safety is our priority here, and we appreciate your full cooperation with staff directions and routines.
Thanks,
Jessica Maine
