WESTMORELAND, N.Y.- The Pride of Westmoreland Marching Band came home with a third place win at the New York State Field Band Championships over the weekend.

The Westmoreland Bulldogs made their way to the JMA Wireless Dome on Sunday, October 27 at 12:45 p.m. Schools from all over the state traveled to the Salt City with their most talented students to perform in one of the most famous sports arena’s in the country. This competition consists of several different divisions, with Westmoreland competing in the Small Schools 2 Division. There were ten schools in their category and Westmo Pride really rocked their “Desert Storm” routine taking home third place. On their return home, the wonderful and supportive community greeted them with fire trucks and flashing lights, parading down Route 233!

We’ve seen them perform at homecoming and they’re always practicing in the field behind our high school, but these championships are something they prepare for throughout the summer and into the beginning of the school year. It takes an entire team to make sure all the students are in sync with each other! Our color guard added so much movement and grace thanks to Dean Abraham, Shelby Jeror, Meghan Donnelly and Olivia Mannella. A big round of applause to our percussion staff, Pete Cutler, Kyle Meagher and Brianna Yagy who help keep the beat going. This group couldn’t have done it without the awesome music staff, Kaitlin Bunger and Henryk Lotyczewski. Also, a big thank you to our audio and video crew, Jeff Clanton and Alex Feliciano for making sure everything looks and sounds perfect! Last but not least our band director, Kristyn Cutler, who does a phenomenal job with the students every year! Our marching band wouldn’t be as amazing as they are without her knowledge and experience! “I could not be more proud of this group of students,” said Cutler.  “We spent our entire season working on our show and they put on the BEST performance at championships. They constantly amazed us with their perseverance and dedication to their show! They were disciplined and hard-working every night we were together! I am always impressed with how they are all there for each other.  They support each other when faced with challenges and they celebrate each other's successes! It has been such a great group to direct!”

Congratulations on a wonderful season! You all make Westmoreland so proud!
