JEKEL

WESTMORELAND, N.Y.- Westmoreland Central School District is starting the new year with a new face.

Ms. Sarah Jekel is the new Physics teachers in our high school. Sarah graduated from Utica University and was a substitute teacher for two years. She is excited to further her career at Westmoreland. “I have the opportunity to grow as an educator and to teach science in a close knit community where I can have an impact on students and colleagues,” said Jekel.

Her love for education began when she started teaching piano and harp lessons in high school. She said her love for music and being able to teach them something she was passionate about, was rewarding. When she entered college she loved chemistry, but wanted to make an impact and show every student that they could learn science, which is why she chose teaching.

When Sarah isn’t at school you can find her walking her dog, playing piano and harp, reading or skiing! Please join us in welcoming Sarah to our awesome list of teachers we already have at this district!
