WESTMORELAND N.Y.- The public will get a chance to hear about the proposed tax enhancement for senior citizens who are on a fixed income.
The public hearing will be on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Board of Education meeting room in the Jr./Sr. High School. Those who plan to attend are being asked to enter through the District Office doors.
This proposed enhancement would change the qualifying income requirements for senior citizens to qualify for a school tax exemption. The current income requirements for the senior citizen tax exemption apply to those who make less than $25,000 annually. The enhancement would change the threshold of qualifying senior citizens to those who make less than $50,000 annually.
