Westmo

Dear Parents,

Our District had planned to begin administering the New York State ELA Assessments for students in grades 3–8 on April 9, 2025. However, due to a widespread technical issue originating from the State's testing vendor, some students experienced difficulties signing into the assessment or were disconnected during the login process.

Our district received word from the state today, Wednesday, April 9 before testing began, that the testing delivery system was having issues. Due to these issues, students in our Upper Elementary School were unable to log in, work on the assessment and submit it, which has forced us postpone this exam. So children in grades 3-6 (in our district) are now planning to take the NYS ELA assessment 1 on Thursday, April 10 and ELA assessment 2 on Friday, April 11. If problems still occur, we will have no choice but to postpone the assessment until the week of April 14.

Our 7th and 8th grade students encountered some minor issues, but they were able to log in and complete assessment 1 and plan to complete assessment 2 on Thursday, April 10 as long as everything runs smoothly.

We apologize for the inconvenience. If anything changes, we will be sure to let families know immediately.

Sincerely,

The Westmoreland Central School District
