Dear Parent/Guardian:
This letter is to inform you that the Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School is in the process of addressing the growth of mold in the ceiling of classroom #127.
Please know that upon district personnel discovering what was thought to be mold, a qualified environmental company was solicited to take samples, confirm the presence of mold and make recommendations for remediation.
After confirmation that mold was in fact present, a remediation plan was developed and the classroom was appropriately cleaned by a remediation company. The classroom will remain closed to students and staff until retesting of the room, to include air sampling, can be completed and the room is deemed safe to use.
As always, the health and safety of our students and staff is a top priority. While we believe this to be an isolated incident, we will continue to monitor this and other areas for possible mold growth.
