Like it does every year, Mrs. Hecklau’s first grade class is giving back during the holiday season.
On December 7, the class spent time making and decorating six gingerbread houses. The delicious and colorful creations, now on display in the glass case next to the main office at the Primary Elementary School, are being raffled off to benefit the Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County.
Tickets, on sale until December 17, are $1 each or three for $2. They are being sold by Mrs. Hecklau’s students. You may also stop in to Mrs. Hecklau’s classroom to make a purchase.
The Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County, located on Horatio Street in Utica, takes in and cares for stray, homeless and abused animals, and strives to place them in loving, caring homes. The organization relies heavily on donations.
In the past, Mrs. Hecklau’s classes have supported organizations such as Operation Sunshine, Spring Farm Cares and Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Your support of Mrs. Hecklau’s class’ fundraiser would be much appreciated!
