MaryBeth Kelsey was named the Bulldog Bookstore “Employee of the Month” for the month of December.

MaryBeth, a senior, is in her fourth year working at the bookstore located in the Jr./Sr. High School. Business teacher Mrs. Weissenberger, who oversees the store, says MaryBeth was selected based on her outstanding qualities.  MaryBeth Kelsey

“MaryBeth is a hard worker, trustworthy and definitely one of our leaders,” Mrs. Weissenberger said. “Due to her experience, she willingly trains our younger employees and is able to keep the bookstore operating smoothly when it’s busy. She is a tremendous asset.”

In addition to learning real-life skills that can be used well after high school, MaryBeth says working at the bookstore is fun and a great way to get to know her fellow students.

“I like talking and interacting with customers,” MaryBeth said. “The bookstore has also been a great opportunity to meet many of the seventh and eighth grade students who moved up to the Jr./Sr. High School this year.”

The Bulldog Bookstore is not associated with any class. Rather, students interested in acquiring a volunteer position at the store submit an application, resume and at least two references, and are then interviewed by Mrs. Weissenberger. Students work during free periods and lunch.

The store is open Monday-Friday during school hours and sometimes during special events. There’s plenty of “green and white” to choose from. Products for sale range from t-shirts to hoodies to snacks and school supplies. All profits are invested back into the student body in the form of scholarships to graduating seniors.

Next fall, MaryBeth plans on attending a four-year college to study dramatic arts. She is still in the process of selecting a school.

Congratulations to MaryBeth Kelsey on being named the Bulldog Bookstore “Employee of the Month” for the month of December!
