Studies show student success is directly linked to attendance. That’s one of the big reasons why the Upper Elementary School is recognizing the efforts of students to attend school on a regular basis - - in this case, “perfect” basis.
At the end of the school day on January 11, the Upper Elementary School celebrated students who had perfect attendance during the month of December. Students with 100-percent attendance gathered in the cafeteria and then marched through the halls of the school as fellow students and teachers cheered them on. Motivating music played in the background.
“We want to make sure we are recognizing success and giving credit when due,” Mr. Polera, Upper Elementary School principal, said. “We also want students to understand how important good attendance is.”
Mr. Polera says as of December 31, 2018, 54 students have perfect attendance since the start of the school year.
The first “perfect attendance parade” took place on November 2 for students with perfect attendance from the first day of school through October 31.
