Giving back to and being an active participant in our community is an important part of the Westmoreland Jr./Sr. High School Student Council’s mission.
On March 28, the Student Council fulfilled its mission, yet again, by bringing students and seniors together.
For the second time this school year, the Student Council sponsored “Senior Citizens Bingo” in the Jr./Sr. High School Library. Around 20 seniors attended.
Student council members and other student volunteers called the winning numbers for several games of bingo. They also served refreshments.
“We have been doing ‘Senior Citizens Bingo’ for several years,” Mr. Pilat, Student Council co-advisor, said. “It’s a great way for our students to connect with many of our seniors – the pillars of our community. They certainly look forward to all of our events at school.”
Each senior fortunate enough to win was awarded with a gift card.
On May 18, the Student Council is sponsoring a “Senior Citizens Prom.” The event is taking place in the Jr./Sr. High School Cafeteria from 6:00-9:00 p.m.
