What are databases? 

Databases are a searchable, comprehensive collection of reliable information from a variety of resources including, but not limited to, magazines, journals, newspapers, books etc. that can be accessed via the Internet.

Important note: All databases are username and password protected. Please ask library staff for a “Database Username and Password” sheet in order to gain access into the individual databases.

CIDER 
- your digital catalog of library resources:

  • Puts library materials from 180 school libraries from more than six counties at your finger tips.

  • Provides year-round access from home or school.

  • To order items from the CIDER catalog, ask your library staff for assistance with placing an "Interlibrary Loan Request” (Sponsored by Oneida/Herkimer School Library System).

OPALS JR/SR High School: Open-source Automated Library System that provides 24/7 Internet access to the Westmoreland Library and Information Center’s book collection.

OPALS Upper Elementary School: Open-source Automated Library System that provides 24/7 Internet access to the Westmoreland Library and Information Center’s book collection.

Search for Success: Search for Success provides access to 38 individual databases covering a wide spectrum of information. These databases can be accessed online at the library or remotely 24/7. Click on the “Search for Success” link for summaries of the individual databases.
